Course Overview

The focus of this workshop is to conduct a Strategic Analysis for a ccTLD Registry based on a SWOT/TOWS (Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats) Analysis Workshop of a country's DNS market.
Strengths : are positive attributes internal to the organization or situation that are within your control.
Weaknesses : are also internal factors within your control that may impede your ability to meet your objectives.
Opportunities : are external factors that the organization or project should (or could) develop.
Threats : are external factors beyond your control that could place the project or organization at risk.


The work product of this two-day workshop will be a fully developed SWOT/TOWS Analysis of the local ccTLD Registry and Strategic Alternatives for the ccTLD Registry to grow in a competitive marketplace There are four steps to the SWOT workshop: SWOT Brainstorming Ranking SWOT in terms of importance Developing Strategic Alternatives using TOWS Analysis Developing Action items to aid Strategic Planning

Attendee Preparation

Attendees will be provided background materials on the (what) and (how) of a SWOT Analysis. Attendees will be asked to conduct some preliminary SWOT assessment prior to the start of the workshop of their organization and DNS market following these tips:
Use a SWOT analysis to distinguish between where you are now and where you wish to be,
Be realistic about your strengths and weaknesses,
Be specific , only include key points and issues,
Relate strengths and weaknesses to critical success factors,
Always aim to state strengths and weaknesses in competitive terms,
Rank points in order of importance, and
Finally, keep it brief , never more than a page.
